Markfloat Privacy Policy
Effective November 3, 2026 · Version 1.0
Data we collect
None. Markfloat does not collect, store on any server, sell or share personal information or usage data. The App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
Network
Markfloat makes no network connections. The app runs in Apple’s App Sandbox without the network permission, so it cannot send anything off your Mac. It contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
What stays on your Mac
- Settings and shortcuts (tool, colors, palette, effects, capture options), saved in the app’s local preferences.
- Your drawings, kept in memory while the app is running. They are not saved unless you capture them.
- Captures you make, which go only to your clipboard and/or to the folder you choose.
- A bookmark of that folder, so Markfloat can save captures there next time.
Deleting the app removes its settings. Captures you saved remain in your folder until you delete them.
Permissions and why
| Permission | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Screen Recording | Only if you use “Capture screen with annotations” | To take one still image of the screen under your drawings. No video or audio is recorded. Markfloat explains this before macOS asks. |
| Folder access | Only if you save captures as files | To write the PNG into the folder you pick. |
| Accessibility, Input Monitoring | Never | Not used. Global shortcuts use the standard macOS hot-key system. Hold-to-draw reads only whether a modifier key is pressed. Cursor effects read only the pointer position and mouse buttons. Nothing you type is read. |
You can revoke Screen Recording at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording.
Children
Markfloat collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
